About DIS
Who are we?
DIS is a study abroad institution for undergraduate students from North America, who come to Stockholm and Copenhagen to study for a semester or a year, and we have been welcoming students to Scandinavia since 1959.
Our students live in our studentboende housing sites across Stockholm, and take classes in our facilities at the Royal College of Music.

Who are DIS Students?
Our students are typically between 19 and 21 years old and study at universities in North America. As part of their bachelor’s degree, they choose to spend a semester (four months) studying with DIS in Stockholm.
DIS students come to engage deeply in their academics, often taking courses they wouldn’t otherwise have access to at their home institutions. Their studies combine classroom learning with hands-on experiences such as field studies and study tours across Sweden and Europe. They represent a wide range of academic disciplines, from the sciences and social sciences to the humanities and creative fields.
If you live at a DIS student residence, conversations can take on a particular depth. A study abroad experience invites reflection, and students are often eager to share perspectives, discuss cultural differences, and exchange ideas shaped by their time in Stockholm.
